Useful Now. Valuable Later.
You decide what matters most that day. We may return to something ongoing, deal with what happened that morning, or follow the issue that is taking up the most space in your mind.
I will have a point of view. I may challenge the way you are framing a problem, connect it to something you haven’t considered, or suggest that we stay with the part you are moving past too quickly.
You can disagree with me. You can tell me when I’m right, when I’m missing something, or when another part of the story matters more. The work is collaborative, not because we take turns being polite, but because your knowledge of your life and my clinical judgment both matter. The purpose is not to complete my preferred version of the work. It is to make your time here useful to your life.
We keep track of what you came to change. That understanding becomes more precise as we learn what is driving the difficulty.
