How I Work

DEPTH-ORIENTED & INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY

I work actively and precisely, with attention to both what is happening in your life now and what may be keeping it in place.

My approach is primarily psychodynamic and insight-oriented, integrating relational, behavioral, somatic, parts-based work and EMDR when useful.

The goal is not insight for its own sake. It is to help you resolve what brought you here and have more freedom in the life you are living.

  • YOUR HISTORY, IN CONTEXT

Understand why something can be hard to change.

What you learned and experienced growing up can still shape what feels normal, necessary, or true today. Seeing that connection helps us change more than the surface of the problem.

  • MAKING SENSE OF IT TOGETHER

Put words to what you haven’t been able to explain.

I notice patterns quickly, make connections, and help organize what feels confusing or contradictory so we can see what is happening clearly and work with greater precision.

  • BUILDING EMOTIONAL CAPACITY

Make difficult moments easier to tolerate so they have less power.

We build your ability to tolerate uncertainty, regulate anxiety and stress, hold complexity, and stay with difficult feelings without having to escape, solve, or act immediately.

  • REACH WHAT INSIGHT ALONE MAY NOT

Some responses live deeper than intellectual understanding.

We work with younger parts and earlier experiences in the mind and body to get them unstuck and integrated, so your decisions today are made by your most adult self in the present.

  • THE THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

I care about understanding you accurately and am in the work with you.

I’m curious about what gets in the way, focus on what matters to you, honest about what I notice, remember the details, make room for humor, and celebrate when you do what once felt hard.

The best way to know whether this feels like the right fit is to experience it. Your first session is a full working session: bring what is on your mind, and we’ll start there.
